National Catchment Forum gives boost to Otago attendees

The National Catchments Forum, held in Wellington at the beginning of October set the scene for what looks likely to become a regular on the claendar for anyone interested in the fresh water space.

The inaugral event was hosted by NZ Landcare Trust and supported by MPI, held at Te Papa over 3 days.

Over 200 people from around the country attended to join in with panel discussions, listen to keynote speakers, including Otago representation from Mandy Bell of Wai Wānaka and Lloyd McCall speaking on behalf of the Pomahaka Water Care group.

Group representation along with industry and supporting bodies came together to share stories, learn about challenges from others and pick up new ideas to bolster work and activities closer to home. The networking opportunities were excellent with lots of great food and coffee available to keep everyone charging throughout the event.

OCC supported 8 attendees from catchment groups across Otago, as well as sending their coordinators along too.

We’re all looking forward to the next one in 2 years time!
